Biography

Marie François (1993) started to play piano at the age of six. She got her first piano lessons from Juan Leten. When she was nine she went to the NIKO-academy for Music, Drama and Dance at Neerpelt; Belgium, to follow lessons with Koen Evens. She graduated with cum laude at the age of sixteen and went to the music high school “Kindsheid Jesu” at Hasselt. There she got piano lessons for two years from Renaat Goyens.

Since a few years she also follows lessons with the teacher Anne Camps. She prepares her specific for competitions, recitals and other concerts.

In 2009 Marie participated at the Princes Christina Concours at Maastricht; Holland, and won a master class of the Dutch pianist Ton Demmers. In 2011 she participated again and won an encouragement price with compliments of the Jury.

Since September 2010 Marie plays together with a flutist called, Liese Claesen. Under the name “La Duetta” they have participated in 2011 at the European Music Festival for Youth at Neerpelt where they got first price cum laude. In the same year they also won second price with 89% at the Dexia Competition in Brussels.

Marie also followed master classes with the Italian pianist, Alessandro Cervino, the Dutch pianist, Joop Celis and the Russian teacher Valentina Berman.

She now continues her studies at the first year of Conservatory in Maastricht, where she follows lessons with the Dutch pianist, Joop Celis.
