Leandro Rodríguez Jáuregui

Leandro Rodríguez Jáuregui was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in December, 1981. He started his music studies at the age of fifteen with Diego Prigollini and a year later he entered the Conservatorio Nacional de Música “Carlos López Buchardo” to study under the guide of Manuel Massone. He graduated from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires with honours. The graduation recital programme included works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Debussy, Bartók and Ginastera. 

He has attended many master classes and was congratulated on his performance by outstanding pianists such as Akiko Ebi (Japan), Alexandre Tharaud (France), Carlo Bruno (Italia), Ancuza Aprodu (Rumania), Douglas Humpherys (EEUU), Tamas Kery (Hungary), Beate Perrey (Germany), Adrián Kreda (Switzerland/Argentina), Carmen Piazzini, Elsa Púppulo, Miguel Angel Scebba and Pía Sebastiani (Argentina). Bruno Leonardo Gelber has given him intensive training lessons during 2010/2011.

Leandro has won prizes in many piano competitions such as Ciudad de Necochea Piano Competition (2nd Prize-2006; 2nd Prize-2010); Northlands Centre of Musical Arts Piano Competition (2nd Prize-2005); Mozarteum Selection for Young Musicians (Honourable Mention-Santa Fe, 2007) and Fundación Catedral de La Plata Piano Competition (Honourable Mention-2009). He was also a finalist in the Festivales Musicales & Shell Biennial Competition (2009) and in Fundación Chopiniana Piano Competition (2010).

From 2006 to 2008 he was regularly invited to participate in the Solistas Argentinos series of concerts at Centro Cultural Dardo Rocha, in La Plata. Those recitals were recorded to be broadcasted by Radio Universidad de La Plata. In 2008 he gave a recital in Santiago de Chile at Casa de la Cultura Anahuac. In that year he was selected by ALAPP (Asociación Latinoamericana de Pianistas Pedagogos) to participate in the “Jóvenes Talentos” series, and thus gave a recital at the Franz Liszt Centre of High Musical Studies in Buenos Aires. In 2010 he participated in the Chopin’s Bicentennial Celebrations by giving a concert that included works by Chopin exclusively, among the “Grandes Conciertos en la Facultad de Derecho” in Buenos Aires.

He appeared as soloist with the Conservatorio de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Orchestra conducted by Edgar Ferrer and with the Mar del Plata Symphony Orchestra directed by José María Ulla at Teatro Colón in Mar del Plata. He is also going to give a concert in 2011 with the Olavarría Symphony Orchestra, in Olavarría, Buenos Aires province.

Leandro also leads a sound activity in chamber music and in contemporary music as well. In 2006 he was selected for the master classes given by the French clarinet player Alain Damiens (Ensamble Intercontemporain), at Conservatorio Beethoven in Buenos Aires. In 2007 he recorded works by Schumann, Poulenc and Guastavino with young Argentinian clarinet player Eloy Fernández Rojas, to be broadcasted by Radio Amadeus. In the same year he performed Franz Schubert's Winterreise with tenor José Luis Sarré and then, in 2009, he recorded some lieder by Liszt, Grieg, Wolf and Strauss with tenor Federico Gurisatti.

In 2003 he premiered solo piano works by Argentinian composer Juan María Solare and since 2007 he has given recitals with Compañía Oblicua, a contemporary music ensemble, founded and conducted by composer and conductor Marcelo Delgado. He also took part in the recording of its first release, Latitud Sur, in 2008. In 2010 he was invited to play in a series of recitals dedicated to the Argentinian composer Gerardo Gandini at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
